(UNITED NATION SECURITY COUNCIL) The United Nations Security Council has passed a new resolution aimed at curbing terrorist activities and funding of terrorist groups around the world. Security Council Resolution 2462 is a comprehensive document bringing together several previous resolutions to combat financial support for terrorist activities, taking into account several key emerging issues. In this resolution, the United Nations Office for Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) has been asked to play a leading role in identifying ways to stop financial support to terrorist activities. It is noteworthy that UNOCT was formed in 2017 to effectively implement the anti-terrorism strategy at the global level. This proposal is very timely in the fight against terrorism and will help in curbing financial support to terrorism.
(AGREEMENT ON HEALTHCARE) India and African Union have signed an agreement on healthcare, under which they have agreed to cooperate in research and development, capacity building, health services, pharmaceutical trade and manufacturing capabilities for drugs and diagnostics by creating a roadmap in this sector. (ISRO) Indian space agency ISRO has launched a young scientist program named 'Yuvika'. The objective of this program is mainly to provide basic knowledge on space technology, space science and space applications along with helping in understanding space activities to the youth who want to pursue their career by becoming scientists. Under this, three class 9 students from each state or union territory will get a chance to visit ISRO center and talk to eminent scientists. During this time they will also be able to see ISRO's laboratories and facilities. Only three class 9 students from each state or union territory will be selected in this two-week long program.
(AGREEMENT ON ANTARCTIC COOPERATION) The Government of India has approved the agreement between India and Argentina regarding Antarctic cooperation. This agreement will help establish scientific cooperation in projects related to earth sciences as well as to protect and conserve the natural environment of Antarctica and the Southern Ocean. This will also facilitate the exchange of scientific and literary information related to the study of Antarctica and its related environmental systems.
(Australian Antarctic Program) Australian Antarctic Program researchers, during a 160-day expedition to Totten, the largest glacier in East Antarctica, discovered a large network of lakes hidden beneath the ice. This discovery could make it easier to determine how the melting of polar ice will affect the world's oceans in the future. It is estimated that 30 km. Long and about 2 km. If the Totten Glacier, which has thick ice, melts, the sea level can rise by 7 meters.
